It is a requirement of the Driving Standards Agency (D.S.A.) that an L.G.V. test candidate has passed the relevant theory test before they can take a practical test so hurry, hurry, hurry and get the theory test passed and under your belt!
For the Licence Acquisition theory test, we recommend the following publications as superb study aids:
"The Official Theory Test for Drivers of Large Goods Vehicles" (ISBN9780115530814)
"The Official DSA Guide to Hazard Perception" DVD (ISBN9780115528651)
If you have passed your car driving test after 1st of January 1997 and this is your first LGV licence and you intend to use your LGV driving licence professionally, you will need to take the Driver CPC Case Studies theory test (module 2). For this, you will need to study:
"The Official Guide to driving Goods Vehicles" (ISBN9780115528996)
And "Driver CPC - The Official Guide for Professional Goods Vehicle Drivers" (ISBN9780115530012)
All of these publications are excellent study aids and are available from Ian Markwick Driver Training Ltd., good book shops or on line at www.tso.co.uk
You can book all of the theory tests by telephone: 0300 200 1122 or online at www.direct.gov.uk/drivingtest (the online option is very user friendly!).
Remember: No theory test = No practical test!
