The route to obtaining your Vocational L.G.V. Licence

or give us a ring on 01949 836060. If you need the Vocational Licence Application
Pack, we will post it to you on that same day
- Have the medical form completed by a doctor. You can go to any doctor for this but many drivers use Cotswold Medicals at www.driversmedicals.com , telephone number 0870 609 1540, who charge less than most GPs. Send the completed medical form "D4" together with the licence application form "D2" to the D.V.L.A. at Swansea (it takes about 10 days for your application to be processed).
- Start studying for the Theory Test. The D.S.A. publications "The Official Theory Test for Drivers of Large Goods Vehicles" and "Hazard Perception – RoadSence. The Official Guide to Hazard Perception" DVD or video are excellent study aids and are available from good book shops or on line at www.tso.co.uk or www.amazon.co.uk .
- As soon as you receive your provisional licence you should apply for your
Theory Test either by telephone on 0870 0101372, on-line at at www.direct.gov.uk/drivingtest
or by post to the D.S.A. (but this could cost time).
- Contact Ian Markwick Driver Training to book an assessment drive and an
opportunity to iron out any points of the Theory Test that may seem unclear.
- Inform us as soon as you have passed your Theory Test so that we may assign
you with a Practical Test appointment and book the dates for your Practical
Driving Course.
- Take the driving course and pass the test!
- Well done! Now that you have passed your Practical Test, your examiner will issue you with your pass certificate and will offer to send your provisional licence to the D.V.L.A. for upgrading to full licence entitlement (they can "fast track" the system and it saves you a stamp!).
